Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any sunshine, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your air conditioner is operating at its peak.

Here are a few that we find particularly helpful here in Chelan and Wenatchee:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, could mean quite a bit of air is escaping your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is making its way outside too. There are a host of choices that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are pretty basic fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s typically recommended to swap your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its performance, but some could last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could potentially improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of contaminants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to have a reminder. Having air conditioner service done annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be handled so your comfort isn’t conceded.

It doesn’t have to feel overwhelming to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 509-284-4265  to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
